Blender 4.2: Precise Modeling Workshop
Learning Resources →

A few days ago, we shared a project from the OpeningDesign studio with an entire architectural project that you can download. They adopt the same open-source philosophy to their designs and make all the files available for anyone to download. At the time, you could grab several files from the Heck Residence, which includes technical documentation and also CAD and Blender files.

The design uses open-source tools only and has a split between Blender and FreeCAD. All the 3D assets are made in Blender, and FreeCAD produces the technical drawings.

The latest update to the project now adds structural files using BlenderBIM to work with the 3D Data.

You can always download all the files and renders from the project to keep track of the developments. If you still didn’t download the files, I strongly recommend you take a closer look. It is the type of resource that is invaluable for people still learning architectural design or who wants to move into a Blender and FreeCAD workflow.

There are files available for Blender, FreeCAD, and also IFC with BIM data.

Using Blender for architecture

Do you want to use Blender for architecture or render your projects using Cycles or Eevee? We have three books available that could help you!

They cover the use of Blender for producing architectural content and also all information you need to render projects in real-time:

You can get them in both digital and paperback formats. By ordering those books, you will not only improve your skills with Blender for architecture but also support Blender 3D Architect.
