Blender 4.2: Precise Modeling Workshop
Learning Resources →

If you are following the series of articles about the upcoming Blender 2.79, you probably are anxious about the new features. Some artists are even calling them as “magic” features.

Until a few days ago only test builds from Blender 2.79 were available, and now you can download the very first release candidate!

To download a release candidate from Blender 2.79, you can visit the downloads page from Blender official web site.

Everything seems to be fine, but we notice that filmic is still missing from the release. Take a look at our article about filmic, and you will see the difference from the Filmic Log Encoding Base and the version coming in 2.79.

Does that mean we cant use filmic in 2.79? No! In fact, you can add the Filmic Log Encoding Base to any version of Blender, at least the ones with Cycles.

All you have to do is download the color profile, extract the contents and replace the contents of your colormanagement folder in Blender.
