Blender 4.2: Precise Modeling Workshop
Learning Resources →

Among the new features of Blender 2.8 for architectural render, you will notice that it now has support for IES profiles in lights. That will give you an incredible tool to create realistic simulations for real-world lights in Blender. What is an IES profile? That is a small text file describing how a particular lamp will emit energy.

If you want to use such a feature, you will need software with support for reading such information, which we have now, and some lamp profiles. Usually, we can get those files from lamp manufacturers at no cost.

Do you want to get 80k IES profiles in a single download?

An artist called Ronnie Rodriguez shared on his Gumroad page an immense collection of IES Profiles. The collection has 82,723 IES profiles.

To download them you have to follow the link. It will ask you for a “fair price” before proceeding to the download. As always, you can set it as zero to get the files for free.

With such an extensive collection you will have a hard time trying to find a particular lamp model inside. On the other hand, it will be hard not to have a model in such a large collection.
