Blender 4.2: Precise Modeling Workshop
Learning Resources →

A great way to start using any software you plan to include in an architectural design workflow is with some sample projects. By getting a project with all the features and settings, you can begin to understand how it works and what you can do with such a tool. That is one of the reasons we offer a section here in Blender 3D Architect with free scenes for architecture with Blender.

A couple of weeks ago, we released a book about another tool that can become useful in architecture: FreeCAD. The software has lots of features to create both 2D and 3D drawings with support for BIM development.

If you want to start analyzing how FreeCAD works for architecture with some examples of architectural projects, we have a link with nine famous designs recreated in FreeCAD.

You find projects like Villa Savoye from Le Corbusier and the Barcelona Pavilion from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.

You can download the FreeCAD native files for those projects and a lot more. You get the 3D models for each project and also DXF exports with technical drawings created using FreeCAD.

By the way, we now have the FreeCAD: architectural drawing book available in PDF! We teach how to start using FreeCAD to make technical drawings for architecture.
