Blender 4.2: Precise Modeling Workshop
Learning Resources →

With the release of Blender 2.9, it is time to start updating some of the main resources used to create architectural visualization with the software. Among those resources, you might find Add-ons and also external renders. A popular renderer used for architecture with Blender is E-Cycles, which is an optimized version of Cycles that is much faster.

If you already have a license for E-Cycles, you can check for an updated version compatible with Blender 2.9. For those of you looking to improve performance, it is a great alternative for the default Cycles. Besides improving render speeds, E-Cycles won’t demand any additional learning. All changes to Cycles happens under the hood, and E-Cycles uses the same materials and renders options.

There is a version optimized for RTX graphics cards that can use OptiX, which are much faster to render. Recently, NVIDIA also added support for OptiX for GTX cards.

As a plus, you can check an incredible new feature added to E-Cycles. It now supports the Light Groups Add-on. What can you do with that Add-on? Here is a video demo of the feature.

It allows you to edit and change lights after your render finishes. That is incredibly useful!
