One of the modeling practices that I really enjoy is to take an on old building and try to model it on Blender. This is one of the most common exercises in my modeling classes on architectural modeling. Our cities are filled with old constructions that might be involved on architectural visualization projects, as the center of a project or as part of the background. So, it is important to know how to create those old style buildings. If you want to start working with those types of modeling projects, here is a tutorial about the process of creating arches for architecture that might be useful for anyone working with 3d modeling. Since arches are an important structural and ornamental element for some of the greatest architectural landmarks, we should know how to create them.
The tutorial was created with Maya, but we can easily adapt the technique to Blender with the Spin tool and the Array Modifier. At the end, the author of the tutorial shows how to create a nice composition with this single arch and manage to create more complex structures.
