Blender 4.2: Precise Modeling Workshop
Learning Resources →

After a while working with architectural visualization projects, you probably will start to wonder about how useful a full parametric library of assets could be in your workflow. For most people, having to edit and change furniture elements is a time consuming and boring task. That is a reality when you must work on projects related to kitchens and bathrooms filled with custom-designed cabinets.

A project may soon shine some light upon parametric assets in Blender, thanks to the work of developer Andrew Peel. He is working in a module for an Add-on called PyClone. The Home Builder module promises to speed up the design and manipulation of furniture assets.

Here is a quick demo:

As you can see from the demo, it has some amazing editing capabilities for furniture models.

The developer is currently working on a port of this Add-on for Blender 2.9, but you can already try that with version 2.83 LTS. Here is a link to download PyClone.

If you don’t remember Andrew Peel, he was part of the team responsible for an old Add-on for Blender 2.7x called Fluid Designer. We even interviewed him about his work on this project a few years ago.

For those looking to create parametric controls for furniture and objects in Blender from scratch, we have a book that explains the entire process.

Using Blender for architecture

Do you want to use Blender for architecture or render your projects using Cycles or Eevee? We have three books available that could help you!

They cover the use of Blender for producing architectural content and also all information you need to render projects in real-time:

You can get them in both digital and paperback formats. By ordering those books, you will not only improve your skills with Blender for architecture but also support Blender 3D Architect.
