Blender 4.2: Precise Modeling Workshop
Learning Resources →

If you are starting to work with architectural interiors and doesn't have a background in interior design or architectural projects may be a challenge to come up with ideas and talk to clients. In this business, you will most likely deal with architects and companies that will require you some knowledge about the basics.

Even something simple like a meeting to discuss how you will approach the visualization and marketing of an interior might go wrong if you do not understand what the project author is talking.

If you want to get some references for interior design to give you a great foundation to either work or discuss project details, I can recommend an excellent book on the subject.

The Residential Interior Design: A Guide to Planning Spaces from Maureen Mitton is an excellent reference. It is already in the third edition, and we love the approach to interior design.

You will find several ideas on how to approach the design of several types of interiors with supporting technical drawings.

There are plenty of ideas and tips on how to work with several types of interiors like:

  • Entrances and Circulation
  • Social and leisure spaces
  • Kitchens
  • Bedrooms
  • Bathrooms
  • Utility and workspaces

The author also deals with additional chapters for technical drawing and how to produce designs for construction. If you plan only to use the references for visualization, you won't need the final two chapters, but it will help a lot of architecture or interior design students.
